Orchestra at the Airport

Take flight with a patriotic concert in celebration of America’s 250th birthday! Join the Civic Symphony of Green Bay for “Wings of Freedom: America250″ – our fourth annual CSGB @ GRB (Orchestra at the Airport). Held in a unique aviation setting, this free community event blends soaring symphonic music with the spirit of freedom. Whether you fly in or drive in, bring the whole family to enjoy a musical salute to the red, white, and blue!

ADMISSION/SEATING:

Admission is free. Donations appreciated. Doors open at noon. Concert at 2:00. No food/beverage carry-ins allowed. Sorry, no pets allowed due to airport safety regulations. The event will take place rain or shine (except if very severe weather). We recommend all attendees bring a lawn chair to the hangar. There are a limited number of metal folding chairs available which can be reserved with a minimum $5 donation to the orchestra.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Pilotsmith Flight School – learn more about being a pilot, and even take a ride in the full-motion flight simulator
  • Heid Music musical instrument “petting zoo” – try out various woodwind, brass, percussion, and string instruments
  • Raffle – register to win prizes in our raffle drawing, all proceeds to benefit the orchestra
  • Face painting – provided by a talented artist from Face Painting by Lori & Friends
  • Static displays – view aircraft and ask the pilots questions (participating aircraft to be announced). Let us know if you’d like to display your plane!
  • Kids craft project – make your own souvenir popsicle stick kazoo with help from volunteers from the Girl Scouts
  • Food – burgers, brats, and soda for purchase, provided by the Beja Shriners
  • Concert – patriotic and summer-themed program presented by the Civic Symphony of Green Bay

PARKING/SHUTTLE:

Parking will be offsite at the Oneida Bingo & Casino lot located at 2170 Airport Drive. Shuttle buses will bring concertgoers to/from Pilotsmith. Limited handicap parking (with hangtag, placard, or plate) will be available at the Jet Air Group hangar at 1921 Airport Drive. Parking is not allowed along the road or in other area business lots. Watch for signs. The airport’s parking lots will be open, but normal rates apply, and it is a long 3/4 mile walk to the venue. We encourage all concertgoers to use the free offsite parking and shuttle service. The shuttle buses will bring concertgoers back to the offsite parking location when the concert ends at approximately 4:15 pm.

FLY-INS WELCOME:

Aircraft should park at the Jet Air Group FBO and proceed through the ramp-side security checkpoint. Check the NOTAMs for runway or ramp construction/closures or other notices. 20 cent per gallon fuel discount for all aircraft that fly-in.
