Music for Young Listeners Concert

Each season, the Civic Symphony of Green Bay is pleased to offer our “Music for Young Listeners” concert, a morning concert program specifically designed to educate and entertain young listeners. In February 2026, we’re returning to The Weidner to appear as part of their Stage Doors educational series. We look forward to filling The Weidner with students from local school groups and homeschools in our community!

2026 Concert Details

Date: Friday, February 20, 2026
Time: 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Location: The Weidner, 2420 Nicolet Dr, Green Bay, Wisconsin
Theme: Music & Art

Artists and musicians often use similar techniques to express emotions, including the use of light, color, and sound to create a specific mood. Our 2026 concert will feature Modest Mussorgsky’s famous “Pictures at an Exhibition.” Students are invited to draw to the music of one of the movements of the music.

When you register your class for the concert, please indicate your interest in participating in the art portion. The orchestra will send you information about the music and the original painting that inspired the composer Mussorgsky. Ahead of the concert, your students will draw as they are inspired by the music they hear. Any two dimensional medium (paint, pencils, crayons, markers) is fine. Student artwork will be scanned or photographed and included in a slide show to be displayed during the concert.

The concert will be 60 minutes total, with 45 minutes of music plus a 15-minute Q&A session. The orchestra will also perform a longer version of this concert in the evening for the public.

Classroom Visits/Presentation

Schools: Musicians from the orchestra are available for classroom visits in advance of the concert to introduce the music, demonstrate instruments, and meet students. We’ll work with you and our volunteer musicians to schedule a convenient day/time. If you already submitted your registration and later want to add a classroom visit, just send an email to education@gbcivic.org.

Homeschools: Please see our YouTube channel for a series of educational presentations with musicians from the orchestra with instrument demonstrations and Q&A. You can view these videos at your convenience.
